Operating in all states and territories in Australia we are engaged in:

  • Petroleum Retail
  • Convenience store retailing
  • Franchising
  • Wholesale of Petroleum products and LPG
  • Construction of service stations
  • Other building projects

United operates a network of almost 300 service stations and convenience stores nationally with plans to expand further.

The organisations ability to deliver new innovative products, was evident when United became the first independent oil company in Australia to introduce ethanol enhanced fuel, such as PLUS ULP, BOOST 98 and PREMIUM 100.

In addition to United's premium quality fuels the recent launch of PREMIUM 98 and the impending release of E85 will allow the company to remain as one of the largest independent oil companies in Australia.

United's initiatives and success stems from its employees around the nation, lead by the Directors Mr. Eddie Hirsch and Mr. Avi Silver who are the founders of United. The wealth of experience and diligent work ethic within the United team plays a major role in achieving our company goals.

As an independent fuel retailer, United obtains its petrol from reputable and trusted motor fuel suppliers. The most recent milestone for United was the acquisition of the Trafigura Terminal located in Hastings, Victoria. The purchase of this modern facility will allow United to seek high quality petrol not only from refineries within our shores but overseas, thus permitting United the opportunity to lower the competitive barriers within fuel retail.

The Directors

The Directors of United Petroleum, Mr Avi Silver and Mr Eddie Hirsch, commenced in the petroleum industry in 1981, operating a group of service stations throughout Victoria under the name Astron. Astron was closely associated with Esso (an Exxon company) and by 1990 had 23 newly constructed sites in the Esso image throughout Victoria.

The majority of shareholding was sold to Burmah Fuels Limited (UK based multi-national) in 1990. Mr Silver and Mr Hirsch became shareholders in the new entity, which traded under the Burmah brand.

In 1993, Mr Silver and Mr Hirsch opened a chain of service stations/convenience stores in South Australia under the United brand, which are still to this day part of the United network.

Following United's success, Mr Silver and Mr Hirsch decided to expand its operations in Victoria, and over the next two years built networks in New South Wales, ACT and Queensland. After achieving positive results, they decided to take on the challenge of opening sites in Western Australia, Northern Territory and Tasmania.

Both Mr Silver and Mr Hirsch possess many years of experience within the petroleum industry. They are very involved in the day-to-day business of United. Thus making this company one of the most successful independent oil companies in Australia.
