David comes with a wealth of experience and has been in the Oil Industry for 30 years, spending 26 of these with BP both locally and internationally. Across his career he has worked in Retail, Wholesale, Supply and Shipping, Card Sales & Marketing, Franchising, Fuel Pricing as well as Strategy and Acquisitions roles. For the last 4 years he held the position of Managing Director of Reliance Petroleum before joining United.
Mark Smith
Chief Financial Officer
Mark Smith has an extensive background in managing the financial and commercial aspects of organisations. Prior to joining United, Mark worked for Accenture as a Commercial Director responsible for all finance, contract management, project management and human resource supply & demand on major engagements. He has extensive overseas experience across the US, Japan, China, Singapore and Malaysia.
David Szymczak
General Manager Terminals & Supply
David Szymczak has a long successful and varied career in the Australian Oil Industry. David was previously working at the Shell Company of Australia Ltd for sixteen years. David has a wealth of experience in retailing, wholesaling, logistics, and supply.
Andrew Morgan
General Manager Retail
Andrew Morgan has twenty plus years experience in a diverse background of Retail, Convenience, Transport/Logistics and Franchising bringing a strong Retail and Marketing focus to the United business. Andrew has held senior roles at NightOwl Convenience, Fastway Couriers and McDonalds NZ and has owned a Franchise business in NZ and brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise with him to United.
Geoff Meacham
General Manager Gas
Geoff has been involved in the LPG industry for twenty eight years and has previously held multi-state management positions for Wesfarmers Kleenheat Gas. Mixed with a strong technical and reseller background, as well as strong operational experience, he and the team at United Gas are well positioned to help grow your business with a full range of products and services. United Gas are always looking for even further expansion by the addition of new customers and resellers. Tailor made solutions are a specialty.

With over twenty years experience within Australian and International petrol & convenience sectors, Mark brings a wealth of knowledge to the United Petroleum business with expertise in Franchising, Operations, Merchandise, Marketing and Category Management. Mark has held senior management positions with several multi national petrol & convenience retailers and has previously been based in Sydney, Perth, Japan, and Dubai. Mark is a hands on operator with a passion for convenience retailing.
Russell Desa
National Franchise Manager
Russell Desa has come to United with almost twenty years experience in the FMCG, retail and franchise businesses. His last role was as the National Franchise Manager with McDonald’s in New Zealand where he managed the franchise network prior to which he held various positions in Operations, Sales and Marketing with Nestle in India. Russell’s strength is his ability to lead, motivate and inspire franchisees to take their business to the next level.
