United Petroleum is proud to announce that it has purchased the Dalby Ethanol Bio-Refinery. The Dalby Bio-Refinery is one of 3 major ethanol plants in Australia.
United Petroleum is an Australian owned independent retailer and wholesaler. United was an early entrant into the sale of ethanol blended fuels in Australia and sells its PLUS ULP brand of e10 fuels in all states of Australia except WA. PLUS ULP is the most widely known and accepted brand of e10 in Australia and is very popular with Uniteds customers.
The purchase of the Dalby Bio-Refinery is a strategic move for United Petroleum as a great deal of the output will be dedicated to supplying the United network and supplying many of Uniteds wholesale customers. United Petroleum is an true independent and plans to strengthen its support to other independent service station operators around Australia.
We are very excited about the Dalby Bio-Refinery purchase as it will support our continued growth in retail and wholesale distribution in Australia. The acquisition will create many opportunities for our wholesale customers and improve the penetration of e10 in Australia, said David Szymczak - United Petroleum General Manager ofWholesale and Logistics.
United Petroleum plan to operate the plant at full capacity and work with the business to improve production in the future. The Dalby acquisition is a long term investment and United Petroleum has plans to inject further capital in the plant, said David Szymczak.
The Dalby Bio-Refinery commenced producing ethanol in January 2009 and utilizes dry grain (Sorghum) as its feedstock. The plant employs innovative processes and technology which is the first of its kind in Australia. It is situated in the heart of the Darling Downs grain belt and its feedstock is sourced from local region, supporting the local community. United Petroleum are looking forward to working with the local growers and becoming part of the local community.
The production of ethanol in Dalby is important to both Australias fuel security and helps to improve the air we breathe. David Szymczak said, Ethanol assists in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, which are a major contributor to global warming. Petrol with 10 per cent ethanol blended in it reduces carbon monoxide and total hydrocarbon emissions, and it contains less toxins and carcinogens than regular unleaded petrol.
David Szymczak concluded by saying that, This is a very significant business expansion by United Petroleum and it will benefit consumers by bringing them cheaper and cleaner petrol.
