United they stand: National petrol station brand awarded for the fourth time

Canstar Blue releases Service Stations 2014 – most satisfied customers award

United Petroleum has received Canstar Blue’s Most Satisfied Customers Award – Service Stations for an unprecedented fourth time.

It means United has been the recipient of the award every year since it was launched in 2011.

Canstar Blue’s survey of Australian drivers saw United given five-star ratings for overall satisfaction with the service station and also for the price of petrol.

“When it comes to which service station to fill up at, price is obviously going to be a bigfactor for most drivers, and United has clearly been keeping its customers very happy in that department,” said Megan Doyle, Canstar Blue Business Unit Leader.

“For United to receive our award every year since it was launched in 2011 is a fantastic achievement. Congratulations to them.”

Canstar Blue’s survey of more than 2,000 Australian drivers – all of whom have visited a petrol station in the last three months – found that 59% of respondents nationally believe it is cheaper for them to drive than use public transport. Of those, just over half say they would use their car less if public transport was more affordable.

A total of 24% of respondents said they would drive across town for cheap fuel and 68% said they follow the ebb and flow of fuel pricing, and fill up on days when petrol is the cheapest.

Meanwhile 34% said there are days when they simply cannot afford to put petrol in their car.

95 Octane (37%) is the most common type of petrol purchased by respondents, ahead of E10 Ethanol (19%) and 98 Octane (18%).

Media Release 2Nationally the average spend on petrol of respondents is $144 a month, with Western Australians ($131) spending the least and Victorians ($159) the most.
