5 Tips For The Perfect Snow Trip!
Winter has arrived so that means it’s the perfect time for a getaway to the snow! Here are some tips on how to prepare for your unforgettable trip with your friends and family.
1. Pack your layers
Yes, it’s a no-brainer that it’ll be absolutely freezing up in the mountains – but if you’re going to be snowboarding or skiing away, you’ll probably heat up very quickly. It’s important you wear layers that are not too bulky and easy to take off so that you don’t overheat while you’re having fun. Preparing pieces like thermals to wear underneath will be very handy.
2. Keep an ointment in your pocket
The freezing snow can be very coarse on your skin causing it to dry out and sometimes become irritated. Carrying a multipurpose ointment (such as Lucas’ Papaw Ointment) with you at all times will be important to prevent water loss and damage to the skin. It can also be used for cuts and open wounds as well in case of any accidents.
3. Keep the little (and big) ones entertained
If you’re travelling with children, it’s absolutely crucial that you’re well prepared particularly for the drive up and back. Little things like preparing snacks, downloading plenty of songs, shows and movies onto your devices will make a world of a difference. 4. Chains on tyres?
Depending which part of the country you’re travelling to, you’re going to have to find out whether you need to carry snow chains in your car. If it’s your first time travelling to the snow as well, it’ll be a good idea to try fitting them on before you head off so you know exactly how it works when you’re there.
5. Know your pit stops
Map out your route and find where your pit stops are so in case of any emergencies. Sometimes if you go far enough you might even lose your network connection so it’s important that you plan early before you head out.
