Terminal Expansion Fuels Growth with a Bright Future

United Petroleum continues to make large capital investments designed to improve and growth the business. These investments will underpin our growth and enhance our capacity to maintain consistent supply to our retail and wholesale customers.

The Hastings Bulk Fuel Terminal is a key element of our supply chain infrastructure, which provides vital resources for our growth plans around the country. The terminal is uniquely located in the major south east growth corridor of the Mornington Peninsula providing us with an important competitive advantage over the major oil companies who operate solely out of Melbourne’s western suburbs.

Increasing our Hastings storage capacity

Construction is underway at Hastings to build two new 25 million litre tanks and two additional truck loading bays along with associated infrastructure. The expansion will increase our bulk storage capacity to 145 million litres, enabling us to better service our existing retail and wholesale customers and providing the platform to secure new business and our future success.

Key distribution hub

The Hastings terminal, our largest facility, acts as a key distribution hub, with an expanded storage capacity across nine tanks of 145 million litres. The highly advanced Hastings terminal is equipped to handle a range of products, and is capable of receiving some of the largest ocean-going tankers. LR tankers can carry between 345,000 barrels and 615,000 barrels of petrol (55-95 million litres) and our Hastings Terminal can discharge a ship at a rate of up to 1 million litres per hour.

Major benefits for all

A key aim of the project is to effectively triple the number of loading arms from 8 to 24 leading to reduced waiting times for tankers and faster deliveries to sites.

Importantly, this enables our site operators to provide customers with quality fuels and highly competitive prices.
